Black. is a 34-page, full-colour book featuring a photographic series on Black Mountain in Canberra, Australia.

The book depicts the telecommunications tower at the peak of Black Mountain against its sweeping skyline – first thing in the morning and at sunset.

While the mountain and the tower are the subject of the images, the character of each shot comes from the ever-changing combination of clouds, sunlight and seasonal foliage.

When you mix all these colours together, you get Black.

  1. Hi Mairi, I just received in the mail your book ‘Black. A Black Mountain photo series by day and night’. Can’t believe you got all those fantastic photos of that wonderful feature of Canberra on your iPhone! I like the way the photos are matched with well-chosen contemporary and historical quotes from such a wide variety of people, with all quotes around the theme ‘black’. You’ve put together a wonderful book, with a suitably hansom cover design. Love that city and love your work. Thanks Mairi. Looking forward to the next book. David F.
